What's Gotta Go: Guarding the Heart Against Sexual Immorality
What does it really mean to live with a pure heart? In this powerful exploration of Matthew 5:27-32, we are taken deep into the heart of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, where He challenges us to move far beyond surface-level obedience. Jesus does not simply call us to avoid certain actions. He calls us to examine the very source from which all of our actions flow. Drawing on the wisdom of Proverbs 4:23, which tells us that everything in life flows from the heart, we are invited to think of the heart as the headwaters of a stream. Whatever pollutes the source will inevitably contaminate everything downstream. This is not a message about rule-keeping. It is a message about transformation from the inside out. We are challenged to ask ourselves a piercing question: what is currently flowing into the headwaters of our hearts, and what needs to be cut off so that the stream of our lives can run clean? This is a message that is as urgent and relevant today as it was when Jesus first spoke it on that hillside.
