Breaking Free from Busyness: Learning to Wait on God

Jun 7, 2026    Nick Seders

This powerful message confronts one of the most pervasive challenges we face in modern Christian life: the relentless rhythm of busyness that threatens to drown out the voice of God. Drawing from Romans 12:2 and the life of Jesus in Luke 4, we're challenged to examine whether we've conformed to the world's frantic pace or embraced the transformative rhythms of Christ. The sermon unpacks a profound truth: Jesus promises rest to the weary and burdened, yet many of us who follow Him are just as exhausted and overwhelmed as those who don't know Him. Why? Because we bring our burdens to Jesus but fail to actually learn from Him and take His yoke upon us. Instead of exchanging our heavy loads for His light one, we ask Him to make our burdens more manageable while we keep carrying them. The key insight comes from observing Jesus Himself, who despite overwhelming demands from crowds seeking healing and teaching, withdrew to solitary places to pray and align Himself with the Father's will. He said no to good things in order to say yes to God things. This isn't about personality type or preference, it's about spiritual necessity. We're invited to reject busyness for busyness' sake and instead disconnect from the tasks long enough to hear what our true assignment is. The path forward isn't found in the next vacation or life change, but in daily communion with our Father who directs our steps.
